Props & Assets

From the beginning of the project, alongside my role as Producer, it was my job to concept and then further develop a wide range of props and assets within the role of Lead 3D Artist. This role saw me creating a range of minor props built for purpose, as well as much larger environmental assets.

Below you will find a selection of these props and assets which I created, presenting the development process of these models. Or, to quickly view, you can also press the button below to see the gallery.

Concept Design

Concepting props and assets with style and appeal

From the beginning of the project, alongside my role as Producer, it was my job to concept and then further develop a wide range of props and assets within the role of Lead 3D Artist.

This saw me spending several weeks developing a variety of concepts and model sheets that would then be used for development of both essential props and background assets that helped develop and tell the 'Good Gully' tale.

Major Props & Assets

Developed to tell a tale...

The most important props and assets were those that would directly feature within the film, either being used by a number of characters, or which would be directly viewable in the camera shots. Some of these assets were fundamental in the telling of our comical animation, and therefore they required the highest attention to detail throughout their creation process.

Several of these props were designed not only for use, but to help drive and tell the story, such as Mr Gulliver Bell's beach hut (as seen below) which quickly gives a lot of insight into the characters personality.

Minor Props & Assets

Developed for both use and general appeal.

Alongside our props required for the major storytelling, there was a large sum of assets and further props that I believed were required to help develop the environment into the perfect British seaside bay that the team had all invisioned, as well as a few minor props that helped to fill and finalise our scenes.

These props and assets came in a range of sizes, with many being able to be repurposed and reused with simple colour changes to add character and depth to the Good Gully bay. Examples of these included windbreakers, deck chairs and parasols, along with many other items you would naturally expect to find on a sunny day at the beach.
